The Eternal Job

Heaven is real. However, we don't work for heaven.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this."Isaiah 9:6-8 (KJV)

Beyond a Christmas reading, the scripture above is an unveiling, a revelation, of the responsibility of the Messiah (Christ) - Jesus and His progeny.

The Contemporary Jewish Version puts that same passage like this:

"For a child is born to us,

a son is given to us;

dominion will rest on his shoulders,

and he will be given the name

Pele-Yo‘etz El Gibbor

Avi-‘Ad Sar-Shalom

[Wonder of a Counselor, Mighty God,

Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace],

in order to extend the dominion

and perpetuate the peace

of the throne and kingdom of David,

to secure it and sustain it

through justice and righteousness

henceforth and forever.

The zeal of Adonai-Tzva’ot

will accomplish this."

Jesus our Lord has dominion and titles(of authority) for the execution of these purposes:

1. To extend God's rule (the throne of David) beyond the nation of Israel

2. To perpetuate, secure and sustain its peace and prosperity (Shalom) by the tools of Justice/righteousness and Judgement for all eternity.

He fulfilled it by

1. making provision for all to become children of God (YHWH) and citizens of His Kingdom by paying on their behalf, the price required, - his death.

2. Raising from the dead to order it (eternally) by his empowered Church. (John14:13, Matthew 16:19, Romans 8:34)

Now, that the Kingdom is not just in Heaven,(it has come to earth by being birth in all we who accept the Messiah) we become not just inheritors of the blessings of the Kingdom he embodied, we also become inheritors of his job:

"in order to extend the dominion

and perpetuate the peace

of the throne and kingdom of David,

to secure it and sustain it

through justice and righteousness

henceforth and forever."

That is my assignment, and if you follow the Messiah Jesus, THAT is your assignment as well.

How is that?

Isaiah 53:10 writes this prophecy of the Messiah:

"Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,  and though the Lord makes, his life an offering for sin,

he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.''

The phrase pro-long his days is rendered: live long in some English translations. However, we know historically-bible accounts- that Jesus died at the age of 33years. That is not, by any stretch of the imagination, long life.

The root word however is ārak, v. which by translation means to be, become long; to lengthen, to have a long (life), and as previously said, live long

But in that scripture, ''he will see his offspring'' is tied to his ''living long (prolong days)''. Therefore the length of his life is connected to his offspring (progeny), YOU and I. In essence, Jesus is living long and continuing on the remaining parts of his earthy job through those that were born out of his sacrifice and resurrection.

Jesus' assignments are now ours by His authority.

So it is our assignment to promote His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever! This assignment starts here on earth but continues for all eternity. We are stewards of an eternal kingdom.

Matthew 25:23 shows us that it is a job that does not cease. It might have an interlude or change of environment but it is being carried out in a boundless Kingdom- eternal in scope and duration. So Brothers and Sisters, whatever you are doing now (in fulfilling your part in this assignment) is occurring IN THAT KINGDOM now. It is eternal. The later promised rewards will be (amongst other things) an increase in that responsibility though in a nobler and more perfect world.[Matthew 25:2]

You are in the Kingdom NOW. Your work is in an eternal Kingdom now. It matters now and forever!

Stay strong and encouraged.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:14

"Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods." Matthew 24:45

“In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.Daniel 2:44

Chapter 7:18 But the holy people of the Most High will receive the kingdom and will possess it forever—yes, for ever and ever.’

''He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”Luke 1:32 - 33

And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. Revelation 5:10 KJV
