We tell people about Jesus but Jesus actually came to show us YHWH.
In fact, in his prayer for his followers, he stated this as one of the points he fulfilled in his mission:
'' “I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word.'' John 17:6
In the preceding verse 3, he stated why this was important:
''Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.''
Jesus came to show us God i.e YHWH. He came to make known to us through the way he related with his followers and with his Father (God) what God was really like and how he wants to be approached. Jesus' followers ate, slept and chatted with God as they ate, slept in the same house and chatted with Jesus. Jesus represented to them the way God (the Father YHWH) whats to live with us - in unforced rhythms of openness and grace.
God wants to be a hands-on Dad to you.
Our relationship with him was never intended to be a distant relationship just based on reverence and fear of wrongdoing. It was designed to be effortless joy! Not a heavy or ill-fitting burden. Company with him should be free and light! [Matthew 11:28 MSG]
I truly love the Lord just because all through the scriptures, I see his love. He is fully committed to us and willing to do what it takes to maintain this relationship with us. When you read the bible, you will see some things that might shock or make you question his loving character, but I encourage you to keep on reading. As you read on, you will understand that even the severity of God is for the ultimate good of mankind. He knows us more than we know ourselves and like a good parent, he does what must be done to give us the best future on this earth but more importantly, beyond this earth.
“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord,
“and my servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am he.
Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me.
I, even I, am the Lord,
and apart from me there is no savior.'' Isaiah 43:10-11
From the time of old, YHWH wants to be known, believed and understood by the humans he made. This is not for His own sake but for our own because apart from YHWH, there is no one who can save us from the consequences of our sin.
''But now since you have been set free from sin and have become [willing] slaves to God, you have your benefit, resulting in sanctification [being made holy and set apart for God’s purpose], and the outcome [of this] is eternal life.'' Romans 6:22 AMP
''If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” - Jesus John 14:7
