The common mistake most people make is in assuming YHWH is waiting for us to get our act together BEFORE he can forge a relationship with us. Honestly, if you could be good enough then you really wouldn’t need him, would you?
A realization of the true extent of the holiness of God removes this assumption. God is perfect. He himself is LIGHT and there is no iota of darkness or wrong in him! In comparison, as Isaiah laments, ‘’All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.’’
You and I cannot be or do good enough to measure up to his perfection. The fact that we cannot be good enough by ourselves is precisely why he took the initiative to come to our aid. That is the reason for Jesus (Hebrew: Yeshua), his name means Saviour or salvation. YHWH made a way to Himself!
As Jesus answered in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’’
When John the Baptiser (Jesus’ preaching cousin) spoke, He said ‘’Repent’’ and ‘’be baptized’ to signify that they were ready to receive and follow YHWH. When Jesus came, he preached ‘’Repent’’ for the ‘Kingdom of God is close by (at hand)’’
But after Jesus paid the price and made a way for us by his sacrifice on the cross, the message of his followers was no longer ‘’Repent’’ and wait for anything else, it was now ‘“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’’ Acts 2:38. Why? Because the solution was now complete. The door is open and the way is enabled by his spirit all through!
The Message of Repentance now no longer means ‘turn away from your sins and try to live right’, it now meant ‘Turn away from your sins and receive the forgiveness provided and the gift of God’s Spirit that empowers you to live right’! He gives us the power to live right and do his will AFTER we come to him. We cannot do it ourselves, but we have a Saviour and the provision of help in the form of his Holy Spirit to be with us and help us forever.

To receive Jesus, Just say a prayer like this from your heart:
‘’God, I may not know all there is to know about you, and I do not even know what lies ahead, but Today, I accept your help and the way you have made for me to get to you. I accept you Jesus and your payment for my sins. You are now my Lord and I receive the gift of your Holy Spirit into me. As the scriptures promise, I am now the child of YHWH and a joint heir with Jesus Christ my Lord. Thank you for loving me so much, I rest in that love in Jesus' name, Amen.’’
