A God-shaped Vacuum

This phrase was all over the christian world when I was younger. I disliked it, it was scary. Years of work, marriage, children, good-times and trials after, I can say 'it is so true!'

It is not about a physical vacuum in our hearts, it is about purpose. You and I were created to live in union with our creator, therefore it should not surprise that no lasting sense of fulfillment can be derived apart from him. God, however, is not a 10-step formula, a catechism, a sinners prayer or good deeds: He is a person i.e. a being with feelings, emotions, a will and desires. God wants friendship but he wants you to want him. Not for what you can get or even for what HE can get (God needs nothing), but because that was the whole idea behind your existence... we humans were to be the tangible representation (image) of his person. Seriously, there really is no lasting fulfilment outside your purpose. That emptiness (at times in Christians or non Christians), that longing for something more, that fleeting feeling of being less than whole, will not be filled by the human love of family, lovers and friends; the piousness of charity and church; the euphoria of parties and fun Or even the satisfaction of work (even church work) and achievements. Our design is for oneness with God- a heartfelt spiritual intimacy. This is an openness, a trusting dependency and abandonment to his love and presence that brings about a divine synchrony. Relationships and accomplishments actually accentuate our need. So, don't waste a life-time chasing the wind. Prioritize a real relationship with God through Christ Jesus now. He fills EVERY void. . 💜 All you people who are thirsty, come! Here is water for you to drink. Don’t worry if you have no money. Come, eat and drink until you are full! You don’t need money. The milk and wine are free. Why waste your money on something that is not real food? Why should you work for something that does not really satisfy you?Listen closely to me and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the food that satisfies your soul." - says the Almighty God .Isaiah 55:1‭-‬2 ERV

...Jesus stood up and said loudly, “Whoever is thirsty may come to me and drink. ..” John 7:37‭ ERV
